Undefeated to defeated to determined: Part 2

I called my cousin last night and I told her I had seen Joe. But of course she already knew, since he had texted her.

Last night while I was lying in bed, I decided to try to practice every night--just a little bit, though. If I practiced every day for an hour, my schedule would be a lot more crazy than it already is.

We, the quiz team, have practices every Sunday, except for the day after the meet. We read, memorize, and quote.

Undefeated to defeated to determined

Sadly, today around 3:30, the B team beat the A team. Today was another quiz meet. On the 15th question of the quiz, B scored and so they won. :-(

But that's OK because we creamed them in the past two months. We, the A team, will come back at them in January. I only really know one of the B team members, Joseph, my cousin's classmate. Oh, yeah, I have heard a lot about Joe.

One of my rivals would have to be John. He's an interesting bird... John is a very good quizzer. He got 1st place in the individual competition. He intimidates me and, well... everyone. But I guess you could call that a good thing for him. Not me. If someone pulls my string, let's just say it will not have a good ending.

Ballet Shoes

My sister and I take dance classes, downtown. Pearl takes ballet, with all of the other excited "ballerinas." She wears a pink leotard, pink tights, and a tutu. And you can't forget the ballet shoes.
The first few weeks of ballet Pearl wore white ballet slippers. They were very cute. Most of the time the shoes are lying around waiting to be twirled, and spun. But I remember when I was her age whenever the last scene in the Nutcracker came on I would try to copy "Clara." Even when I was younger than Pearl on Saturday nights I would put on my Minnie Mouse tutu and dance to The Lawrence Welk Show that still airs at 7:00 PM. Once, while I was waiting for my Jazz class to start, I saw Pearl do her "princess spins" all alone with the teacher. The other kids in the back waiting were really scared. It was very amusing to look at the scene.

This is my second year of dance. I am active in Jazz, Tap, and Hip Hop.

We're number one

Yesterday J and I got 1st place in quizzing. We went to Gowanda at the Free Methodist Church. In case you're wondering quizzing is a sport (to me). You jump on seats to answer Bible questions or quote verses. In this case the book we are working on is John.

Anyways J and I are a two person team (most of the teams have 3 players). We had a record of one loss and the rest Wins! :-) I am really psyched that I quizzed out for the first time. Quizzing out is answering 5 questions right in one quiz. Each quiz has 15 questions.

Next month the quiz is in Albion if you are interested in watching go to the big white church in Albion NY.

Scary Sixth Grade

Well it's that time of year. School shopping, pencils, folders, books--the list could go on and on. But too bad for me (and the rest of my class) because we were the top of the food chain at elementary school. But now we're just a bunch of helpless sixth graders. I mean, getting shoved into a locker does not sound that fun to me. Not to mention the bullying.

Orientation was great (besides the fact I couldn't get my locker open). I mean they showed us everything--the gym, bathroom, library, etc. My absolute favorite part was The Cafeteria. Pizza every day, salad, soft pretzels--yummy. The absolute worst news to me is that sixth graders are not allowed to be in the fall play! Now, I love acting, singing, dancing--you name it. Fortunately, our church is having a Christmas play.

So for all you sixth graders out there, here's some advice:

1. Be cool and calm.
2. Don't wear anything loud.
3. The most important advice I have to offer is:

SURVIVE the first day of school.
